A Soulful Flow with Sass!

I’m Aléna (aka “Sass”), Creatrix of fun, non-competitive, invigorating Vinyasa/Hatha based Yoga4Soul style flows and mindful movement explorations- YogaSass- that will leave you feeling more open, energized and balanced.

I aim to create a safe class environment that embraces students of varied ability, of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and belief systems; and a space that cultivates body awareness, self-compassion, and personal growth.

The traditional yoga-based YogaSass practice includes a variety of strength, cardiovascular and flexibility training, with practices of pranayama (breath) and mindfulness- synchronizing movement with breath. This includes moving through seated and standing postures, twists, backbends and other opening poses, all while bringing awareness to the breath. Added to the physical flow is a sensible sprinkling of philosophical food for thought and humor, along with breathing practices, sounding, meditation and deep relaxation.

The YogaSass mindful movement classes encourage a deep, in-the-moment awareness of the body’s natural movement patterns. These sessions also include mindful breath practices, simple stretches, and primal movements with sounding and meditative practices, and may have a yoga pose here and there, but is a more organic experience of learning to pay attention to the body’s needs. It’s all an exploration of tapping into one’s inner body wisdom, which helps to create a sense of openness and feeling more grounded and calm in mind and body.

Grow with the flow…

YogaSass practices are done in a relaxed manner, with varied pacing depending on the student needs; using breath, and body resourcing, as a constant point of reference for returning to and focusing on the present moment.

In each practice, students begin to allow the vritti, or fluctuations (chitter chatter) of the mind, to slip away, creating a beautiful moving meditation that leaves one feeling more refreshed, grounded and centered.

Learning to be present with flowing movement, breathing, sounding, and meditative techniques will not only expand one’s physical body and presence, but will flow out into one’s daily life, helping to bring about an overall more balanced mind, body and spirit!

Namaste and Shanti, y’all! ;)
