Vinyasa/Hatha based open-level yoga flow, and Mindful Movement practices with Aléna Watters

Aléna Watters (fondly known as ’Sass’ to many folx in her communities), was introduced to yoga in a college stage movement class, and began to explore the practice more fully upon moving to New York City. Initially, she was drawn to broaden her practice for the physical benefits- the positive changes and strength that she noticed in her body. Then she began to fall in love with the mental focus & centeredness that the practice offered. Yoga helped bring about a sense of calm to the storm of life as Aléna transitioned from the slower suburban energy of life in Colorado, into the dynamic “go-go-go” energy of living in New York City. After 5 years of building a serious practice with her Yoga4Soul mentor, Charles ‘Jojo’ Tyler, she felt ready to take things to the next level & graduated from the Yoga4Soul school as a 200 hr Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher.

Aléna is a professional “triple threat” performing artist- a singer, dancer, and actor. Coming from a highly-trained athletic background in professional dance, voice & musical theatre, Aléna’s classes infuse mindful, fluid movement with breath and sounding to create what she’s called “YogaSass”. Her yoga and mindful movement classes are open-level and accessible, with modifications and/or accelerated options given for a variety of poses. Aléna infuses her offerings with humor, enthusiasm, and compassion; she believes that a motivating yet non-competitive environment allows space for personal expansion and wellness. Aléna hopes to inspire her students to accept themselves as they are in each moment; to find out what works for their bodies and understand each and every practice will be unique; and she encourages students to be open to experiment and expand their practice. Her hope is that her students will lean into enjoying the journey of spiritual and physical growth that they can cultivate through yoga.

Aléna teaches both public and private yoga and mindful movement classes, one on one and for groups.

She has taught Broadway performers, musicians, sports bike riders, corporate clients, for fitness centers, dance studios, at Burning Man the ‘average joe’.
